FARGO, N.D. – The No. 2-ranked North Dakota State football team rolled to its fifth straight win Saturday, Oct. 5, with a 41-17 victory over sixth-ranked North Dakota before a crowd of 18,723 at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.

NDSU quarterback Cam Miller went 13 of 19 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns and also picked up his 42nd career rushing TD, setting a new Missouri Valley Football Conference record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

Safety Sam Jung made a team-high six tackles including one tackle for loss to lead the NDSU defense, which held UND to 101 rushing yards and 5 of 11 on third down. The Bison (5-1, 2-0 MVFC) also recovered two fumbles with defensive end Dylan Hendricks forcing one and recovering the other.

TK Marshall jump-started the Bison with a 44-yard kickoff return to open the game, and the Bison went 56 yards in seven plays capped by CharMar Brown’s 2-yard touchdown run. The Bison opened up a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter on a 36-yard TD pass from Miller to Bryce Lance.

NDSU’s biggest lead of the game was 38-10 late in the third quarter after Cole Payton connected with Mekhi Collins on a 33-yard touchdown pass.

Collins led the Bison with three catches for 47 yards, Lance had two receptions for 50 yards, Marshall made two catches for 42 yards, and Chris Harris had two catches including his first career touchdown.

UND quarterback Simon Romfo was 18 of 23 passing for 166 yards and Bo Belquist made four catches for 61 yards to lead the Fighting Hawks (4-2, 1-1 MVFC). Gaven Ziebarth carried 12 times for 65 yards.

North Dakota State is on the road next Saturday, Oct. 12, to face Southern Illinois in the ESPN+ exclusive Missouri Valley Football Conference Game of the Week. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Saluki Stadium in Carbondale, Ill.
