Crookston Woman Charged With Felony Failure to Appear
Crookston (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bagley woman faces a felony charge after allegedly missing a scheduled court appearance in Crookston.
Jodi Corrine Martine, 59, is charged with felony failure to appear for court.
The charge was filed in Polk County District Court.
Prosecutors allege Martine intentionally failed to appear for a jury trial on August 24, 2026.
Earlier Case Led to Court Dates
The new charge stems from an earlier Polk County criminal case.
Martine first appeared in that case on August 25, 2025, according to the complaint.
She was charged with felony threats of violence and misdemeanor assault in that matter.
The complaint says Martine was informed that missing court could result in another criminal charge.
A judge also set conditions for her release from custody.
Those conditions required Martine to attend all scheduled court appearances.
She later posted bail and was released from custody.
Trial Scheduled for August 24
Martine appeared with her attorney at a hearing on June 18, 2026.
The court scheduled a pretrial hearing for August 20.
A jury trial was also scheduled for August 24.
Martine attended the August 20 pretrial hearing, according to court records.
The case remained unresolved and stayed on the trial calendar.
Prosecutors say Martine did not appear when the trial was scheduled to begin four days later.
Her attorney was present at the Polk County Justice Center.
The complaint says there was no known contact with Martine at that time.
Warrant Issued After Missed Appearance
The court issued a body-only warrant after Martine failed to appear.
The case was also removed from the trial calendar.
Investigators reported no evidence Martine was hospitalized or confined elsewhere.
Martine later appeared on the failure-to-appear warrant on August 27, according to the complaint.
The new felony charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.49.
The charge carries up to two-and-a-half years in prison.
It also carries a possible fine of up to $5,000.
Criminal charges are allegations. Martine is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
More court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
