Moorhead Man Faces 3 Felony Sex Crime Charges

Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead man faces three felony criminal sexual conduct charges involving a 17-year-old.

Jesse Whitebear Duane Lund, 35, is charged in Clay County District Court.

One count alleges first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force or coercion.

Two additional counts allege third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving coercion.

The alleged incident happened on January 28, 2026, according to the criminal complaint.

Hospital Report Leads to Investigation

Police responded to a local hospital on January 29 after receiving a sexual assault report.

The 17-year-old reported being assaulted by Lund and another person named in the complaint.

That person was identified in court records as Kylie Connie-Jean Wise.

The teenager underwent a sexual assault examination at the hospital.

Investigators later conducted a more detailed investigation into the allegations.

The complaint says the teenager had met Wise through Snapchat about one month earlier.

Wise later introduced the teenager to Lund, according to court records.

Prosecutors allege Wise and Lund picked up the teenager on January 28.

They then traveled to a Moorhead residence, where alcohol was consumed.

Teenager Alleged She Said No

The complaint alleges sexual activity later occurred inside the residence.

The teenager told investigators she repeatedly indicated that she did not consent.

Prosecutors allege Lund engaged in sexual contact despite those objections.

The complaint also alleges Wise used force against the teenager during the incident.

The teenager reportedly became upset and asked to return home.

Wise and Lund then drove her home, according to court records.

TRF News is withholding the teenager’s identity because she was a minor.

Investigators Cite Messages and DNA Evidence

Investigators reviewed Snapchat messages between the teenager and Wise.

The complaint says those messages supported parts of the teenager’s account.

Police also obtained surveillance video from the teenager’s apartment building.

Authorities later obtained search warrants for DNA samples from Wise and Lund.

Evidence was submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.

The complaint says testing found a Y-chromosome profile matching Lund on collected evidence.

Investigators also reported semen on the teenager’s underwear.

DNA analysis supported including Lund as a contributor to that mixture, according to the complaint.

Charges Carry Significant Prison Terms

The first-degree charge falls under Minnesota Statute 609.342.

That count carries up to 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.

The other counts fall under Minnesota Statute 609.344.

Each third-degree count carries up to 15 years in prison.

Each also carries a possible fine of up to $30,000.

Criminal charges are allegations. Lund is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
