Klimek Paces NDSU Men’s Cross Country at SDSU Classic

BROOKINGS, S.D. – North Dakota State senior Hunter Klimek paced the Bison men’s cross country team at the SDSU Classic on Friday evening, finishing second overall in the eight-kilometer race.
 
Klimek clocked a season-best 24:32.7 for individual runner-up honors out of 70-plus competitors at Edgebrook Golf Course. The Bison men took third in the team standings, with host South Dakota State winning the title.
 
Junior Jacob Knodle was the No. 2 finisher for the Bison, taking 10th place in 25:09.9. Tyson Mahar placed 11th in 25:11.6. Redshirt freshmen Ivan Askim (25:22.8) and Ethan Moe (25:27.1) took 16th and 18th, respectively, to complete the team scoring for NDSU.
 
Demetrius Farmakis was 20th, Regan Bosch was 22nd, and Will Gerber was 23rd for the Bison men.
 
Klimek continued his run of leading the Bison in each meet this season. Knodle’s No. 2 spot in the NDSU scoring was his highest of the year.
 
NDSU will race next at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill., on Oct. 18.
