Simonich Named Summit League Peak Golfer of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State men’s golfer Ian Simonich has been named the Summit League Peak Men’s Golfer of the Week after winning the Tommie Invitational, announced the league office on Thursday.

In a tournament that included five Summit League schools, Simonich was the only golfer in the field to shoot under par, as he posted rounds of 72, 71 and 72 to finish at -1 and win by two shots. He led the Bison to their first team title of the year, with NDSU winning by seven shots over host St. Thomas.

Simonich recorded three birdies in each round, finishing with nine overall to record his second win, and first since his sophomore season. It is his second Peak Golfer honor, also winning the award in October of 2022 following his other victory.

NDSU swept the weekly awards for the second time this year, with Madi Hicks being named the Summit League Peak Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Simonich and the rest of the Bison are slated to return to action next week at the Throw Down “Up Top” in Homer, Nebraska. The event, hosted by South Dakota, will take place October 7-9 at Landmand Golf Club.
