INDIANAPOLIS (trfnews.i234.me) – Caitlin Clark, star guard for the Indiana Fever, has been named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year after a historic season. Despite the Fever’s rocky 1-8 start, Clark’s leadership helped guide the team to a playoff berth. Clark received 66 out of 67 votes for the prestigious award from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

With an average of 19.2 points per game (PPG), 5.7 rebounds per game (RPG), and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game (APG), Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to lead in assists. “I am incredibly honored to be named Rookie of the Year, and grateful for the support of my family, teammates, and the Fever organization,” said Clark.

Clark’s on-court performance wasn’t the only thing making waves—her star power also boosted WNBA viewership and attendance, with multiple teams moving their home games to bigger arenas to accommodate fans. Clark joins fellow Fever stars Aliyah Boston and Tamika Catchings as a WNBA Rookie of the Year honoree.

Pacers players Myles Turner, Tyrese Haliburton, and Obi Toppin congratulated Clark, saying, “It’s been a pleasure watching you play this year. The best is yet to come.”
