WILLMAR, MINN. – Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt expressed gratitude to bystanders and good Samaritans who helped officers manage an unruly crowd during the arrest of a knife-wielding teen at Willmar High School’s homecoming game. The chaotic scene unfolded as officers responded to reports of a disturbance, only to be confronted by a hostile group that began to intimidate attendees.

While the crowd grew tense, several good Samaritans intervened, assisting the officers in restoring order. Chief Felt noted that this situation was unusual, as police typically encounter such crowds only at events involving alcohol, like house parties. He believes the disruptive group included friends or family members of the arrested juveniles.

Police are reviewing bodycam footage and videos submitted through social media as part of the ongoing investigation.
