Kabetogama Man Hurt in Highway 53 Crash
St. Louis County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Kabetogama man was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in northern Minnesota.
The crash happened at about 2:02 p.m. on September 19, 2026.
It occurred at Highway 53 and County Road 519 in St. Louis County.
Two pickup trucks were involved in the collision.
Two Pickups Collide at Highway 53 Intersection
A 2025 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling north on Highway 53.
A 2016 Ford F-150 was also traveling north near County Road 519.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection, according to the crash report.
The road surface was dry when the crash occurred.
The report did not give more details about how the collision happened.
Kabetogama Driver Taken to Hospital
Russell James Lehto, 65, of Kabetogama, was driving the Chevrolet Colorado.
Lehto suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.
He was taken to Cook Hospital for medical care.
Lehto was wearing a seat belt when the crash happened.
Airbags did not deploy in the Chevrolet Colorado.
Alcohol was not suspected in connection with Lehto.
Illinois Driver and Passenger Uninjured
Mitchell Jay Gentry, 65, of Atkinson, Illinois, was driving the Ford F-150.
Gentry was not reported injured in the crash.
Richard P. Gentry, 87, also of Atkinson, was a passenger in the Ford.
He was also not reported injured.
Both men were wearing seat belts.
Airbags did not deploy in the Ford F-150.
Alcohol was not suspected in connection with the Ford driver.
Emergency Crews Respond
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted at the crash scene.
Orr Fire and Ambulance also responded to the collision.
The incident was listed as an injury crash under report number 26311173.
The crash report was last updated at 4:54 p.m. on September 19.
