Hitterdal Man Arrested After Alleged Police Chase

Hitterdal (trfnews.i234.me) — Cody Jacobson, 44, was arrested Friday after an alleged police pursuit near Hitterdal.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident happened on September 18.

The encounter began at about 7:45 a.m., according to an agency release.

Traffic Stop Attempted Near Hitterdal

A deputy tried to stop Jacobson for speeding on 90th Avenue North.

Jacobson allegedly failed to stop and continued south on Highway 32.

The sheriff’s office said Jacobson then drove into a cemetery in Hitterdal.

He later left the cemetery and continued south on Highway 32.

The vehicle eventually stopped at Jacobson’s residence just south of Hitterdal.

Authorities said Jacobson tried to enter the home after stopping his vehicle.

Deputies and Minnesota State Patrol troopers attempted to prevent him from entering.

The release states that Jacobson was uncooperative and resisted their efforts.

Authorities eventually arrested him at the residence.

Jacobson was taken to the Clay County Correctional Facility in Moorhead.

Jacobson suffered a cut to his head during the encounter, according to the release.

A deputy and a state trooper also suffered minor injuries.

All three were treated at a local hospital.

Jacobson is being held on suspicion of several offenses, according to the sheriff’s office.

They include felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.

He is also suspected of fourth-degree assault on a peace officer.

Authorities also listed obstructing legal process and fourth-degree driving under the influence.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

Jacobson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Minnesota’s fleeing law can be reviewed through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

The state’s DWI law is available under Minnesota Statute 169A.20.

The Hawley Police Department also assisted during the incident.
