FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) – A former principal at an elementary school in West Fargo, North Dakota, will have to wait several months for his day in court. David George’s federal trial has been postponed until February after a request from his defense team.
U.S. District Judge Peter Welte issued the ruling, citing “good cause” to continue the trial beyond its original start date of October 8. The new trial date is set for February 25.
George faces serious allegations, including taking a 10-year-old boy across state lines into South Dakota where he allegedly molested him. Prosecutors also plan to call a woman who claims George sexually abused her beginning when she was around 8 years old.
The investigation that led to these charges began with an accusation of possession of child pornography against George in North Dakota. However, as the probe unfolded, it revealed that George had traveled across state lines with intent to have sexual relations with a minor.
George resigned from his position at West Fargo Public School District on the day he was arrested in August 2023. He previously served nearly 10 years with the district and also worked as an assistant principal at Cheney Middle School.
He has been held at the Sherborn County Jail in Minnesota since May, after being moved there for security reasons. The postponement of his trial until February will give him more time to prepare his defense against these serious allegations.
