Glyndon Man Charged After Shots-Fired Report

Glyndon (trfnews.i234.me) — Michael Lloyd Slette faces two charges following a reported shooting incident near Glyndon.

A Clay County District Court complaint lists one gross misdemeanor and one misdemeanor charge.

The case stems from an incident reported on November 24, 2023.

The complaint was filed in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.

The court case number is 14-CR-26-2340.

Shots Reported Near Glyndon

According to the complaint, deputies responded to a shots-fired report around 8:51 p.m.

The caller reported hearing several gunshots near 120th Street South.

The caller also reported seeing a vehicle driving around the area.

Authorities later located a pickup truck believed connected to the call.

Michael Lloyd Slette was identified as the driver, according to the complaint.

Ryan Rahr and Logan Tucker were also identified as passengers.

The men allegedly told authorities that uncased firearms were inside the pickup.

Rahr allegedly said the group had stopped along the road to shoot at a jackrabbit.

He said the group used a .22-caliber rifle, according to the court filing.

Slette allegedly told authorities that he fired a .22 rifle at the jackrabbit.

He also allegedly said the rifle belonged to him.

The complaint says three additional long guns were found inside the pickup.

Slette allegedly claimed ownership of those firearms as well.

Authorities reported finding several types of ammunition inside the vehicle.

Spent .22-caliber casings were also found, according to the complaint.

The filing says some casings appeared consistent with shots being fired from inside the truck.

Authorities also reported finding several opened alcoholic beverage containers.

The complaint lists opened Twisted Tea cans and a partially empty Michelob Ultra can.

A partially empty bottle of liqueur was also allegedly found inside.

Slette allegedly told authorities that he had consumed a couple of beers.

He now faces an open-bottle charge under Minnesota Statute 169A.35.

Slette also faces a gross misdemeanor firearm charge.

The complaint lists a maximum sentence of 364 days for that charge.

It also lists a possible fine of up to $3,000.

The open-bottle charge carries up to 90 days in jail.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $1,000.

The charges are allegations and do not establish guilt.

Slette is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
