Roosevelt Man Faces Two Child Sex Assault Charges
Roosevelt (trfnews.i234.me) — A Roosevelt man faces two felony charges involving allegations of sexual contact with a child.
Jacob Oliver Patrick Jones, 38, is charged in Roseau County District Court.
Both counts allege first-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the criminal complaint.
The alleged conduct occurred between August 22 and August 24, 2026, in Roseau County.
The case is filed under court number 68-CR-26-511.
Two First-Degree Charges Filed
The first count alleges sexual penetration or contact involving a child under age 14.
Prosecutors also allege Jones was more than 36 months older than the child.
The second count alleges multiple acts involving a child under age 16 and a significant relationship.
That count alleges the abuse involved multiple acts over an extended period.
Each felony carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.
The complaint also lists a 144-month mandatory minimum prison term for the second count.
Investigation Began After Report
According to the complaint, Roseau County authorities received a report on August 27.
The child’s family met with investigators away from the residence where Jones allegedly lived.
Family members reported concerns after the child complained of pain and later disclosed alleged inappropriate contact.
Investigators arranged a forensic interview through Roseau County Social Services.
During that interview, the child described alleged sexual contact involving Jones, according to the complaint.
The child also alleged similar conduct had occurred previously while the family lived outside Minnesota.
The Minnesota charges concern the alleged conduct that prosecutors say occurred in Roseau County during August 2026.
Case Filed By Warrant
The complaint was filed with a warrant in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.
The charges are brought under Minnesota Statute 609.342.
The statute covers first-degree criminal sexual conduct under several circumstances involving minors.
