Walker Man Faces Felony Fentanyl Possession Charge

Walker (trfnews.i234.me) — Dale Roger Dufner faces a felony drug possession charge in Cass County.

The charge follows a September 9, 2026, driving complaint south of Walker.

Prosecutors allege Dufner possessed fentanyl, which is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance.

Driving Complaint Leads To Investigation

According to the complaint, police received a report about a blue Chevrolet Impala.

The caller said the vehicle was driving across the roadway and onto the shoulder.

An officer later located the vehicle along Highway 371 in Cass County.

The Impala had pulled onto the shoulder and displayed a paper license plate.

The officer reported seeing a man slumped over in the driver’s seat.

The driver was later identified as Dale Roger Dufner.

The complaint says Dufner appeared startled when the officer knocked on the window.

Investigators say Dufner then reached toward his waistband and started the vehicle.

The officer ordered Dufner to shut off the vehicle and keep his hands visible.

Dufner eventually exited the vehicle and was temporarily handcuffed, according to the complaint.

The complaint says Dufner then mentioned a narcotic inside the vehicle.

He allegedly identified the substance as fentanyl and described a small white container.

Police searched the vehicle and reported finding a matching container.

Investigators say the substance inside tested positive for the presence of fentanyl.

The container and suspected fentanyl together weighed 4.2 grams, according to the complaint.

Officers also reported finding several glass smoking pipes inside the vehicle.

Burned tin foil was also found, according to the court filing.

Investigators described those items as consistent with controlled substance use.

The complaint lists two prior fifth-degree controlled substance convictions involving Dufner.

Both convictions were sentenced in Cass County during August 2020.

One conviction was a gross misdemeanor.

The other was a felony controlled substance conviction.

The complaint also lists a pending Crow Wing County case.

That separate case includes alleged fifth-degree drug possession and DWI charges.

Those pending charges have not been resolved.

The felony charge carries up to five years in prison.

It also carries a possible fine of up to $10,000.

The case is filed as 11-CR-26-1354 in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.

Dufner is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
