Bemidji Woman Faces Charges in $818 Walmart Case

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Ansleigh Danae Curry faces two charges tied to an alleged Walmart theft.

The case was filed in Beltrami County District Court.

Curry is charged with gross misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer.

The complaint says the alleged theft involved $817.98 in merchandise.

Police Respond To Walmart Theft Report

According to the complaint, police responded to the Bemidji Walmart around 12:14 p.m. on December 20, 2025.

Store asset protection reported seeing Curry and Ronald Hulett placing merchandise into totes inside shopping carts.

The complaint says Hulett later went through self-checkout without paying for items in his cart.

He was issued a theft citation, according to the complaint.

Curry allegedly remained inside the store with a cart filled with merchandise.

Investigators say she later left the store without paying for the items.

Store employees tried to stop Curry after she passed the final points of sale.

The complaint says Curry continued pushing the cart into the parking lot.

An officer activated emergency lights while trying to stop Curry, according to the complaint.

Investigators say Curry looked toward the officer but continued moving with the cart.

The officer then activated a siren.

Curry allegedly pushed the cart away and began walking from the area.

The complaint says she started running when the officer exited the patrol vehicle.

The officer identified himself and ordered Curry to stop.

Curry was then caught and taken into custody, according to the court filing.

Store asset protection later reported the merchandise was worth $817.98.

The theft count alleges property worth more than $500 but less than $1,000 was taken.

The gross misdemeanor count carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.

It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.

The fleeing charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.

The complaint lists December 25, 2025, as the offense date in its charge summary.

However, the charge descriptions and probable cause statement identify December 20 as the incident date.

Curry’s case is filed as 04-CR-26-1874 in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.
