Five Bison Women Earn Academic All-League Honors for Outdoor Track & Field


SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women’s track & field team was represented by five Bison on the Summit League Academic All-League Team for the 2024 outdoor season.
 
Nell Graham, Allie Niska, Alex Seagris, Merrideth Spiers, and Makenna Vollmer earned the honor by virtue of their athletic and academic achievements.
 
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), and have completed at least one full academic year at the current institution. The award is voted on by the sports information directors and faculty athletic representatives of the league schools.
 
Graham (Dodge Center, Minn.) posted a 3.86 cumulative GPA to earn a degree in business administration. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Summit League Championships for the third consecutive conference meet, winning the heptathlon title and scoring 26 points in the team race.
 
Niska (Duluth, Minn.) was an NCAA West Preliminary Rounds qualifier in the 400m dash after placing third in the event at the conference meet. She has a 3.90 GPA as a biological sciences major.
 
Seagris (Amherstburg, Ontario) is an exercise science major with a 4.0 GPA. She qualified for the NCAA West Prelims and placed third at the Summit League Championships in the javelin.
 
Spiers (Grant City, Mo.) recorded a 4.0 GPA as a psychology major and now owns a 4.0 pursuing a graduate degree in criminal justice. She placed third in the discus, fourth in the hammer throw, and fifth in the shot put at the Summit League Championships.
 
Vollmer (Harvey, N.D.) was the Summit League runner-up and an NCAA West Prelims qualifier in the long jump, owning the league’s top mark in the event this season at 20 feet, 5 inches. She owns a 4.0 GPA with a major in exercise science.
