NDSU Closes Regular Season with Loss to South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. – North Dakota State softball wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with a 9-3 loss to South Dakota in Summit League play at Nygaard Field.
 
South Dakota would grab the lead with an unearned run in the second inning. Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage answered back with a solo home run in the top of the third, but the Coyotes capitalized on more errors from the Bison to score three unearned runs in the bottom of the third.
 
Jasmyn Yessian would hit a RBI double in the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-2, but South Dakota responded with a five-run bottom of the sixth to secure the victory for the Coyotes. Bella Dean would add a late run with an RBI single in the seventh, scoring Aguilar-Beaucage to cap the scoring for the day.
 
Savy Williams had the loss in the circle, allowing all nine runs, five earned, on eight hits in five innings of work. Zoe King finished with two of NDSU’s seven hits. Aguilar-Beaucage was the only other Bison to reach safely twice in the game, with her home run and a walk.
 
NDSU will return to action on Wednesday at the Summit League Championships in Brookings, S.D. The Bison will be the No. 6 seed and will take on the No. 3 seed Kansas City, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium.
