YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. — The search for Austin King-Henke, a 22-year-old Minnesota native, continues after he went missing during a hike in Yellowstone National Park. King-Henke was last heard from on Sept. 17, when he called a family member from the summit of Eagle Peak, the highest and most remote point in the park. Describing foggy, windy conditions with rain, sleet, and hail, King-Henke failed to show up for a scheduled boat pickup on Sept. 20.
Search and Rescue teams from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks have been scouring the area near Eagle Peak, using helicopters, drones, and dogs. While they found his campsite in the upper Howell Creek area, King-Henke remains missing.
King-Henke’s family and friends have been sharing messages of hope on social media, praying for his safe return. His father has also set up a GoFundMe to support the ongoing search efforts. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Yellowstone Interagency Communications System.
