East Grand Forks: Wicks Faces Drug, DWI Charges
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Adam Wicks faces felony drug possession and second-degree DWI charges in Polk County District Court.
The charges stem from a Sept. 2, 2026, traffic stop in East Grand Forks.
The case is filed as 60-CR-26-1299 in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.
Prosecutors filed two counts against Wicks.
Felony Drug Charge Filed
Count One alleges third-degree controlled substance possession within a prohibited zone.
The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 152.023, subdivision 2(a)(4).
Prosecutors allege Wicks possessed methamphetamine near Itts Williams Park.
The complaint says the location was within the park’s protected zone.
The alleged offense occurred in East Grand Forks, according to the complaint.
The felony carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
It also carries a possible fine of up to $250,000.

Traffic Stop Led to Search
The complaint says officers were watching a Ford F-150 before the traffic stop.
The vehicle allegedly stopped briefly at a residence before returning to 17th Street Northeast.
Police later reported seeing the driver without a seat belt.
They also reported a burnt-out driver’s side brake light.
The truck was stopped in the 1300 block of Highway 220.
The complaint says the stop occurred within the East Grand Forks Senior High School zone.
Wicks was identified as the driver.

Police reported that Wicks consented to a search of the vehicle.
A syringe was allegedly found inside a glove on the vehicle’s floorboard.
The complaint says a field test showed a presumptive positive result for methamphetamine.
Wicks allegedly told police the syringe belonged to him.
He also allegedly disclosed another syringe inside his sock.
Second-Degree DWI Charge
Count Two alleges second-degree driving while impaired.
The complaint cites Minnesota Statute 169A.20, subdivision 1(7).
That provision covers driving with certain Schedule I or II substances in the body.
Police obtained a urine sample after Wicks was taken to the police department.
The complaint says an onsite test was positive for methamphetamine and THC.
Prosecutors also cite two prior DUI convictions as aggravating factors.
The listed convictions occurred in 2019 and 2021.
Second-degree DWI is a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 169A.25.
The complaint lists a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
Case Remains Pending
The criminal complaint contains allegations that have not been proven in court.
Wicks is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
