Fatal Crash on US83 and ND41 in Wilton
On September 22, 2024, a fatal vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of US83 and ND41, claiming the life of 72-year-old Wanda Schlichenmayer of Mercer, ND. The crash happened at 3:30 PM under clear skies with dry road conditions. Schlichenmayer’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 32-year-old Gaige Allard of Belcourt, ND.
Despite efforts by first responders, Schlichenmayer succumbed to her injuries at Sanford Medical Center. Allard and his passenger, Karli Fox, 24, sustained minor injuries. Allard was later arrested for an outstanding warrant.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
