NDSU Men’s Golf Finishes Third at Doc Gimmler


FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – North Dakota State men’s golf finished the Doc Gimmler Red & Black in third place after carding a 307 on the final day of the tournament, held at the world-famous Bethpage State Park-Black Course. The Bison posted an 865 overall score in the two-day, three-round event.
 
Sean Moore finished first for the Bison and in a tie for 11th overall. Moore shot a 75 (+4) on the day which included three birdies in the final round, giving him a final score of +5.
 
Jake Skarperud carded a 74 (+3) with birdies on the seventh and final hole. Skarperud finished just behind Moore with a +6 in the tournament and in 14th overall.
 
Rylin Petry and Josh Galvin both finished within the top 25 of the 69-golfer field. Petry finished in a tie for 17th after recording a +7 in the tournament and +9 in the final round. Galvin finished in a tie for 24th with a +10 on the day and a final score of +9.
 
Ian Simonich rounded out the Bison, carding a +7 in the final round to finish in a tie for 35th at +11.
 
NDSU finished the tournament on the world-famous Black Course with a +23 and finished third overall with a final score of +21. St. Johns finished just ahead at +20, and Long Island took the tournament with a final score of +15.
 
The Bison will return to action on September 30 for the Tommie Invitational held at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater, Minn.
