Grand Forks Man Arrested After Violent Assault on Wife and Ex-Wife, Facing Multiple Felony Charges

GRAND FORKS (trfnews.i234.me) – A Grand Forks man, Daniel Morales, 31, is facing multiple felony charges after a violent domestic assault involving both his current wife and ex-wife early Monday morning.

Police responded to a domestic violence report at a home shortly before 2 a.m. When officers arrived, a woman outside informed them that her ex-husband had struck her in the head. According to court documents, she had been inside the home when Morales began assaulting his current wife, repeatedly striking her in the face. The brutal attack left Morales’ wife fading in and out of consciousness.

The ex-wife attempted to intervene but was also struck in the head by Morales. He then locked her in a room, but she managed to escape.

During the incident, five children were inside the home. They later told police that they heard the violent altercation and were not allowed to leave the house by Morales.

Morales is now facing felony charges of interfering with a 911 call and felonious restraint, along with domestic violence charges. His criminal record includes a 2016 conviction for selling cocaine in Polk County, for which he was sentenced to five years in prison. He also has a 2011 felony conviction for theft of over $35,000, along with various other offenses, such as DWI and fishing without a license.

The case remains under investigation, with the safety and well-being of the children in the home a primary concern.
