Wrong-Way DUI Driver Causes Three-Vehicle Crash on I-94 in Barnes County

A three-vehicle property crash occurred on the night of September 14, 2024, on Interstate 94 near mile marker 283, just southeast of Sanborn, ND. The crash, caused by a wrong-way driver, resulted in no injuries but led to significant vehicle damage and a DUI arrest.

At approximately 8:39 PM, 39-year-old Skyler Holub of Jamestown, ND, was driving a 2017 Ford Escape westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-94. Two vehicles, a 2014 Ford Econoline U-Haul truck driven by 40-year-old Kory Russell of Valley City, ND, and a 1996 Buick Century driven by 32-year-old Peyton Glassic of Snohomish, WA, were traveling eastbound in the correct lanes. Both drivers took evasive action to avoid a head-on collision with the wrong-way Ford Escape.

Despite their efforts, the Ford Escape sideswiped both vehicles before veering into the south ditch of I-94, where it came to a stop. Fortunately, all drivers involved were wearing seatbelts and emerged from the crash unscathed.

Skyler Holub was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless endangerment. The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
