POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Two brothers from Crookston, Juan Gallegos Deleon Jr. (55) and Abelardo Deleon (53), have pleaded not guilty to serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and multiple methamphetamine-related offenses. On Thursday, September 12, they waived their omnibus hearings and now face a potential maximum sentence of 30 years.
Juan Deleon Jr. is charged with 14 felonies, while Abelardo Deleon faces five. The case has garnered attention following a probable cause statement revealing that on the last day Juan Deleon Jr.’s stepson was seen, he posted on Facebook alleging, “Step Dad is selling me out.” When questioned by law enforcement, Juan Deleon Jr. claimed he and his stepson had used methamphetamine together and that the stepson had stolen from him. Despite these accusations, Deleon Jr. maintained his innocence, stating he was “an addict, but not a murderer.”
The brothers’ indictment stems from a lengthy investigation linking them to methamphetamine distribution and threats of violence. The Deleons are also accused of conspiring to harm or kill multiple individuals.
The next court appearance for pre-trial hearings is scheduled for October 24 at 1:30 p.m.
