Mahnomen Woman Faces Fentanyl, DWI Charges

Mahnomen (trfnews.i234.me) — Terra Jean Roberts faces drug possession and DWI charges in Mahnomen County District Court.

Prosecutors allege Roberts possessed fentanyl during an October 2025 traffic stop.

They also allege she drove with amphetamine and methamphetamine in her system.

Roberts faces a gross misdemeanor drug charge and a misdemeanor DWI charge.

Vehicle Stops Along Highway 59

The investigation began around 5:09 p.m. on October 25, 2025.

Law enforcement was traveling south on U.S. Highway 59 near East Adams Avenue.

An officer saw a vehicle ahead pull onto the shoulder.

The officer stopped behind the vehicle and conducted a welfare check.

Roberts was identified as the driver, according to the criminal complaint.

Investigators reported that Roberts had droopy eyelids and facial and neck tremors.

She was asked to complete several field sobriety tests.

The complaint says Roberts had balance problems during the tests.

Investigators also reported constant mouth movements and additional tremors.

Roberts told authorities she had used drugs several days earlier.

She also reported recently smoking marijuana, according to the complaint.

Roberts was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The complaint says she gave permission for authorities to search her vehicle.

Investigators reported finding several items of drug paraphernalia.

They also found a small paper bindle containing a white powdery substance.

The substance was later submitted for laboratory testing.

A laboratory report dated December 29 identified the substance as fentanyl.

The tested material weighed .052 grams, according to the complaint.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for a blood or urine sample.

Roberts provided a urine sample at the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office.

A January 20 laboratory report found amphetamine and methamphetamine in the sample.

Prosecutors allege those results support the DWI charge.

The possession charge cites Minnesota Statute 152.025.

The complaint lists the charge as a gross misdemeanor.

It carries up to 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.

Fourth-degree DWI is classified as a misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 169A.27.

The complaint lists a maximum of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
