Bemidji Woman Charged in Card Fraud, Walmart Theft

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — Jordan Janine Johnson faces two charges involving a lost wallet and unauthorized card use.

Prosecutors charged Johnson with gross misdemeanor financial transaction card fraud.

She also faces a misdemeanor theft charge.

The alleged incidents happened between May 29 and May 31, 2026.

The case is pending in Beltrami County District Court.

Wallet Reported Missing

A Bemidji man contacted law enforcement on May 31 to report his lost wallet.

He said the wallet went missing two days earlier near Minnesota Avenue Northwest.

The wallet contained $128 in cash and several financial cards, according to the complaint.

The man later learned one card had allegedly been used without his permission.

A $139.40 purchase was made at Tobacco and Vapes on May 30.

The man also received notice of a declined transaction at Walmart.

That attempted purchase totaled $61.82, according to court records.

Investigators contacted Walmart and obtained information about the declined transaction.

Store staff provided a photograph showing a man and woman at the checkout.

Authorities also received surveillance video from the store.

The complaint says the card was declined during the attempted purchase.

Prosecutors allege the two people then left Walmart with the merchandise without paying.

Store video reportedly showed them leaving in a white van.

Investigators later identified the van through its license plate information.

Law enforcement shared an image of the two people while investigating their identities.

An anonymous tip identified the woman as Jordan Janine Johnson, according to the complaint.

Investigators compared the image with a prior booking photograph.

The complaint says authorities then identified Johnson as the woman shown in Walmart surveillance footage.

The criminal complaint does not describe an interview with Johnson regarding the allegations.

Johnson faces financial transaction card fraud under Minnesota Statute 609.821.

The charge alleges she knowingly used another person’s card without permission.

The complaint lists the offense as a gross misdemeanor with up to one year imprisonment.

It also lists a possible fine of up to $3,000.

The theft charge is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.52.

That misdemeanor carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The court file number is 04-CR-26-1410.
