Greenbush Man Faces Felony Assault Charge

Greenbush (trfnews.i234.me) — Brody Jay Rasmusson faces felony and misdemeanor assault charges in Roseau County District Court.

Prosecutors filed the charges after two reported confrontations on July 17 and July 18, 2026.

Rasmusson faces one felony count of third-degree assault.

He also faces one misdemeanor count of fifth-degree assault.

The felony charge carries up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

First Incident Reported in Badger

The first confrontation was reported shortly before midnight in Badger.

John Waskul told authorities that Rasmusson approached him at a residence.

Waskul alleged that Rasmusson pushed him and threw a beer at him.

Investigators later located Rasmusson at a street dance in Badger.

According to the complaint, Rasmusson admitted throwing a beer toward Waskul.

Tenisha Berger also spoke with investigators about the incident.

She reported seeing Rasmusson throw a beer over Waskul, according to court records.

Authorities responded to another disturbance near Greenbush around 1:15 a.m.

Waskul said he and another person went to return Berger’s belongings.

The items included her purse and a case of beer, according to the complaint.

Waskul said Rasmusson confronted them after their vehicle entered the driveway.

Rasmusson allegedly told them to leave the property.

The complaint says Rasmusson then struck Waskul while Waskul remained inside the vehicle.

Waskul reported being hit near his right ear.

He told investigators that his ear began ringing after the alleged assault.

The complaint says Rasmusson later admitted slapping Waskul inside the vehicle.

Investigators later received a medical report dated July 23.

The report said Waskul suffered a small perforation to his right eardrum.

Waskul also reported pain, ringing, popping, and minor bleeding after the incident.

Prosecutors allege the injury meets the standard for substantial bodily harm.

That allegation forms the basis for the third-degree assault charge.

The law is available under Minnesota Statute 609.223.

The fifth-degree assault law is available under Minnesota Statute 609.224.

The case is filed under court number 68-CR-26-465.

Rasmusson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
