BISMARCK, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bismarck man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of assaulting a police officer during an alcohol-fueled incident. Chad Tarno faced charges following a disturbance at Sunrise Park in East Bismarck, where officers responded to reports of a man acting strangely.

Upon arrival, officers found Tarno, who appeared intoxicated, slurring his words and smelling of alcohol. While attempting to detain him, Tarno became combative, kicking and attempting to spit on the officers.

After a one-day felony jury trial on Wednesday, Tarno was convicted of attempted assault on a police officer and preventing arrest. In addition to his prison sentence, he will serve two years of probation and has been ordered to pay $560 in court fines. Tarno will serve his sentence at the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
