David Alan Longtin is charged in Red Lake County District Court.
The charges include dissemination, possession, and electronic communication of sexual material to a child.
The investigation began after a cybertip involving a TikTok account, according to the criminal complaint.
Cybertip Leads to Investigation
The complaint says TikTok reported an upload from an account using the name “shorty_dave.”
The reported upload occurred on April 28, 2025.
TikTok forwarded information to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, court records state.
Investigators later traced internet subscriber information connected with the upload to Longtin.
Authorities executed a search warrant at his Oklee residence on September 4, 2025.
Investigators seized an iPhone and an Android tablet during the search.
Longtin allegedly confirmed that “Shorty” was his nickname.

The complaint says he also acknowledged using several social media platforms.
Investigators Review Electronic Devices
During an interview, Longtin allegedly admitted accessing online groups used to exchange child sexual abuse material.
He also allegedly admitted communicating online with people he believed were underage boys.
The complaint says those conversations included sexual content and explicit images.
Longtin allegedly acknowledged uploading the video that prompted the cybertip.
However, he reportedly claimed that the upload itself was accidental.
Investigators later conducted forensic examinations of the seized devices.
The complaint says one review identified 619 unique files meeting Minnesota’s statutory definition.
A later forensic review flagged a total of 1,109 files as suspected child sexual abuse imagery.
Three Felony Counts Filed
Longtin faces one felony count involving alleged dissemination of child sexual abuse material.
He also faces one felony count involving alleged possession of such material.
A third felony count concerns alleged electronic sexual communications involving a child.
The complaint also cites a prior 2011 conviction involving child sexual abuse material.
