Crookston Warrant Issued in Felony Court No-Show Case

Crookston (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks man faces a felony charge for allegedly failing to appear in Polk County court.

Roberto Carlos Lopez Jr. is charged with felony failure to appear for court.

A warrant has also been issued in the new Polk County case.

Prosecutors allege Lopez failed to attend a required court hearing after being released from custody.

The complaint says appearing at future hearings was one condition of his release.

Earlier Felony Case

Court records say Lopez appeared in Polk County District Court on May 29, 2025.

He was facing a first-degree criminal damage to property charge in that earlier case.

The judge set bail at $800 cash or an $8,000 surety bond.

The release order required Lopez to attend all future court hearings.

The court also warned that missing a hearing could result in another criminal charge.

According to the complaint, Lopez later failed to appear for a hearing on December 11, 2025.

A warrant was issued after that missed hearing.

The complaint states that his location remained unknown when the new case was filed.

New Felony Charge Filed

Lopez now faces a separate felony failure-to-appear charge in Polk County District Court.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 months in prison.

It also carries a possible $5,000 fine, or both prison and a fine.

The complaint lists an offense date of May 15, 2025.

However, its probable-cause section identifies December 11, 2025, as the missed hearing date.

Readers can review Minnesota’s failure-to-appear law through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

Public Minnesota court information is available through Minnesota Court Records Online.

The new case is filed under Polk County court file number 60-CR-26-541.

The allegations in a criminal complaint have not been proven in court.

Lopez is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty.
