AURORA, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A woman in Aurora, Minnesota, had a narrow escape during a shooting incident on Monday evening when she tripped just as the suspect fired a shot, causing the bullet to miss her. The East Range Police Department provided an update on the harrowing event that unfolded at 13 East 3rd Avenue South around 7 p.m.
The incident began when police received a 911 call reporting a 54-year-old woman outside a residence, screaming for help. Shortly afterward, a loud bang was heard, prompting concerns of a possible shooting. The situation took a startling turn when the 22-year-old male suspect called 911 himself, stating that he had just shot someone.
Police quickly arrived at the scene, taking the suspect into custody without further incident. The female victim was found about half a block away, having tripped and fallen while attempting to flee. Remarkably, her fall occurred just as the suspect fired his gun, causing the bullet to miss her and strike a neighboring house instead. Fortunately, no one inside the house was injured.
The victim sustained a scraped knee from her fall and received medical attention. Following the arrest, police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where they recovered the firearm used in the incident.
