Fargo Driver Dies After Fleeing Traffic Stop

FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) — A 35-year-old Fargo man died early Saturday after his pickup crashed on Dakota Drive.

The crash happened around 12:18 a.m. on August 8, 2026. The road was dry and weather conditions were clear.

The crash involved a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver was wearing a seat belt, according to the news release.

Police Attempt Traffic Stop

Before the crash, Fargo Police tried to stop the driver in the 700 block of Broadway North.

Police said the man was a known suspended driver. Officers attempted the stop for driving under suspension.

The driver fled at a high rate of speed, according to the release.

Fargo Police then ended the attempted traffic stop. Officers did not pursue the Silverado.

A short time later, an officer found the crashed pickup in the 1500 block of Dakota Drive.

Investigators said the Silverado failed to make a curve. The pickup then struck a tree.

The vehicle continued between two apartment buildings after hitting the tree.

Debris from the Silverado also struck an unoccupied Honda Element.

The Honda suffered extensive damage. No occupants were inside the vehicle when it was struck.

The Silverado’s driver died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash.

Authorities did not identify the driver in the release. No other injuries were reported in the information provided Saturday.

The North Dakota State Patrol is investigating the fatal crash.

The Fargo Police Department also responded to the scene.

The Fargo Fire Department and Sanford Ambulance assisted at the crash.

The State Patrol classified the incident as a single-vehicle crash involving a fixed object.

Officials did not release additional information about the driver’s speed.

The release also did not state whether alcohol or drugs were suspected.

The crash remains under investigation. More information could be released as investigators complete their work.
