Thief River Falls House Fire Causes $15K Damage
Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — No injuries were reported after a house fire early Tuesday.
The fire was reported at 2:23 a.m. at 1209 Riverdale Drive. The home is owned by Dante Steele.
Fire Chief Rick Beier said the fire began on the back deck. Flames then moved into the eaves of the house.
Smoke and Water Damage Reported
Most of the fire damage was limited to the home’s exterior. However, smoke and water caused moderate damage inside the house.
Firefighters remained at the property for about two hours. Crews worked to contain the flames and prevent further damage.
Damage was estimated at no less than $15,000. The final cost could change after a full property inspection.
No residents or firefighters were reported injured. Officials also reported no damage to nearby homes.
Red Cross Assists Steele Family
The Steele family received assistance from the American Red Cross Minnesota and Dakotas Region.
The organization provides emergency support after home fires and other disasters. Available help depends on each family’s needs and circumstances.

Cause Remains Under Investigation
The cause of the Riverdale Drive fire remains under investigation. Beier said investigators determined the fire was not suspicious.
No additional information about the possible cause was immediately available. Officials may release more details after completing the investigation.
Residents should keep decks clear of dry leaves, cardboard, and other flammable items. Grills and fire pits should remain away from buildings.
Outdoor electrical cords should also be checked for exposed wires or other damage. Damaged equipment should not be used.
Working smoke alarms should be installed on every level of a home. Families should also create and practice an emergency escape plan.
The Tuesday morning fire remains under review. The reported damage was mainly outside the home, and no injuries occurred.
