On the afternoon of 08/02/24, a Red Lake County deputy discovered an individual sleeping in a parked vehicle along Hwy. #92 east of Hwy. #32. The deputy discovered the lone occupant of the vehicle appeared to be under the influence of illegal controlled substances. She was identified as Kelly Maureen Villenueva (53) of Fargo. Ms. Villenueva was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and was booked for misdemeanor driving while under the influence of illegal controlled substances. She was released from custody on 08/04/24 and she will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls at a later date.
On the afternoon of 08/04/24, Red Lake County deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a Poplar River Township residence. Investigation at the scene revealed that Zachary Rolla Charpentier (28) of Brooks, committed acts of domestic assault upon his live-in girlfriend. He was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and he was booked for misdemeanor domestic assault. Mr. Charpentier appeared in Court in Crookston on 08/06/24. He was released with conditions that include no contact with the victim and not to possess firearms. He is scheduled to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls later this month.
On the afternoon of 08/04/24, Reynaldo C. Alarcio (68) of Winnipeg, MB was cited for speeding on Hwy. #59 south of Plummer.
On the evening of 08/04/24, a Red Lake County deputy cited a passenger in a motor vehicle, Dylan Charles Gerardy (18) of Oklee, for a misdemeanor cannabis packaging violation. This incident occurred in the city of Brooks.
On the morning of 08/06/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a semi-truck and trailer were stuck on the Railroad tracks north of Plummer. CP Railroad was notified, Red Lake County deputies and a Minnesota State Tropper responded to the scene. The semi-truck had been removed from the tracks prior to law enforcement’s arrival. No injuries and no damages were reported.
On the afternoon of 08/06/24, a Red Lake County deputy assisted and counseled two individuals who were having a dispute over a child custody exchange in Plummer. The situation was mediated, and the exchange of the child was completed.
On the evening of 08/06/24, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover crash on CR. #9 northwest of Red Lake Falls. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle claimed they were not injured, but the Ford Ranger pickup was severely damaged. The driver claimed they swerved for a deer, lost control, and left the roadway causing the vehicle to overturn.
On the afternoon of 08/07/24, the Dollar General Store in Red Lake Falls reported that someone left a safe on the sidewalk by their store. A Red Lake County deputy retrieved the safe. The owner is unknown at this time. If anyone is missing a safe, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office.
On the morning of 08/08/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a road grader collided with another vehicle on 260th St. in Lambert Township. There were no injuries, but the pickup was totally damaged, and the grader sustained minor damage. The pickup, driven by Michael Allen Peterson (49) of Oklee, did not see the grader when it pulled onto 260th St. from a private driveway. Mr. Peterson was cited for failure to yield.
