Underwood Teacher Must Surrender License After Drill
UNDERWOOD, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Jason Lowell Rogers received two years of supervised probation.
An Otter Tail County judge issued the sentence on July 28, 2026.
The court also ordered Rogers, 49, to surrender his teaching license in every state.
Rogers received a stay of adjudication on three malicious punishment charges.
The court did not enter formal convictions during sentencing.
The charges will be dismissed if Rogers completes probation and follows every condition.
A violation could allow the court to enter convictions on all three counts.
Court Sets Probation Conditions
Rogers must complete an anger management assessment and follow its recommendations.
He must also perform 90 hours of community service.
The court ordered Rogers to write apology letters to each student involved.
He must also pay $2,250 in fines and court fees.
The probation term will remain supervised for two years.
The Minnesota educator licensing board oversees teacher licenses across the state.
Incident Happened During Lockdown Drill
The case followed a February 2025 lockdown drill at Underwood School.
Authorities later responded to Lake Region Hospital regarding the reported incident.
A sixth-grade student told investigators that Rogers stepped on his back.

The student was lying on his stomach during the school drill.
Court records said Rogers weighed more than 350 pounds.
The student reported that Rogers placed both feet on his back.
Rogers later admitted that he stepped on two other students during the drill.
Prosecutors filed the charges in March 2025.
School officials placed Rogers on administrative leave after the charges were filed.

He cannot keep an active teaching license in another state.
