MINNEAPOLIS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A fatal and unusual Saturday night crash occurred in North Minneapolis. At 10:40 p.m., officers from the fourth precinct responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision at the intersection of Lowry Avenue North and James Avenue.
According to preliminary information from the Minneapolis Police, the driver of a Dodge Journey crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Dodge Durango head-on. Following the crash, the driver of the Journey was reportedly assaulted by an unknown passenger from the Durango.
The 31-year-old driver of the Durango and a 14-year-old female passenger were transported to North Memorial Health. Despite life-saving efforts, the 31-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. A third unidentified woman passenger from the Durango did not speak with police.
The 34-year-old driver of the Journey was also taken to North Memorial Health for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries. He was later booked for suspected DWI and criminal vehicular homicide. The investigation is ongoing.
