East Grand Forks Man Faces Gun, Threat Charges

East Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — Nathaniel T. Harrison faces two felony charges in Polk County District Court.

The charges follow an alleged threat reported on June 22, 2026. Court records also describe ammunition found during a search.

Harrison, 59, is charged with illegally possessing ammunition after a violent-crime conviction. He is also charged with threats of violence.

The firearm-related charge carries a possible sentence of five to 15 years. It also carries a possible $30,000 fine.

Threat Reported to Police

According to the complaint, a woman contacted East Grand Forks police that morning. She reported receiving threatening messages allegedly sent by Harrison.

The woman said Harrison used a neighbor’s phone to contact her. She told police she feared he could carry out the alleged threat.

Another person told investigators that Harrison allegedly discussed shooting the woman. Harrison later denied making a direct threat, according to the complaint.

He reportedly admitted sending messages while angry. He also told investigators he did not plan to harm anyone.

Ammunition Found During Search

Police and a corrections agent searched Harrison’s East Grand Forks residence that afternoon.

The complaint says a .22-caliber cartridge was found outside the home. Investigators also found a box of .40-caliber ammunition in the basement.

Harrison allegedly said the ammunition belonged to his son. The complaint does not state that officers found a firearm during the search.

A urine sample later tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to court documents. Harrison reportedly admitted recent methamphetamine use.

Prosecutors said Harrison has a 2016 aggravated assault conviction from North Dakota. Minnesota law may bar people with violent felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Prosecutors Seek Possible Enhanced Sentence
