Moorhead Man Arrested in Major Drug Seizure

MOORHEAD, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Police intercepted a suspected drug shipment headed toward the Fargo-Moorhead area earlier this month.

Investigators seized three pounds of suspected methamphetamine during the operation. They also arrested a 45-year-old Moorhead man.

Jason Fliflet was taken to the Clay County Jail following the July 8 traffic stop.

Vehicle Stopped Near Barnesville

Detectives received information about suspected drug shipments before July 8.

The drugs were reportedly being transported from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The shipment was believed to be headed toward Fargo-Moorhead.

Investigators located the suspected vehicle near Barnesville on July 8.

The Moorhead Police Department worked with the Cass County Drug Task Force. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.

Authorities stopped the vehicle and conducted a search.

The search uncovered suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and a large amount of cash.

More Drugs Found During Home Search

Detectives later obtained a warrant to search Fliflet’s residence.

Police reported finding more suspected methamphetamine and mushrooms inside the home.

Investigators also seized controlled prescription medications that were allegedly possessed without legal authority.

Authorities reported seizing three pounds of suspected methamphetamine. Police estimated its street value at about $20,000.

Investigators also seized 73 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms. Those drugs were valued at about $3,400.

The seizure included 56 Schedule II prescription pills and $2,163 in cash.

Authorities also seized a 2021 Jeep Cherokee during the investigation.

Charges Remain Pending

Fliflet was arrested on suspicion of several serious drug offenses.

They include first-degree methamphetamine sale and possession allegations.

He also faces suspected mushroom possession and controlled substance violations.

Formal charges had not been filed when authorities announced the arrest.

All allegations remain unproven unless established in court.
