FORT RANSOM, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – On Sunday, July 28th, 2024, a devastating incident occurred on the Sheyenne River near Fort Ransom, North Dakota. Two kayakers who had launched north of Fort Ransom were reported missing after failing to meet their family at the designated Sportsman’s Landing. The alarm was raised when two kayaks were spotted below the Fort Ransom Dam.

Emergency responders, including Fort Ransom Fire, Lisbon Fire, and Ransom County Sheriff’s Office, were dispatched to the scene. One of the kayakers was found approximately five to six river miles downstream on Sunday. The second individual was recovered the following day, roughly half a mile from the dam. The names of the victims are expected to be released on August 2nd.
