Bemidji Woman Charged in Card Fraud Case

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Walker woman faces charges after a lost bank card was allegedly used in Bemidji.

Jordan Janine Johnson is charged in Beltrami County District Court. The complaint lists one gross misdemeanor and one misdemeanor.

The charges include financial transaction card fraud and theft. Court records identify the case as 04-CR-26-1410.

Wallet Reported Missing

Boston Smith contacted Bemidji police on May 31, 2026. He said his wallet disappeared two days earlier.

Smith reported losing it near 1102 Minnesota Avenue Northwest. The wallet contained $128 and several payment cards.

According to the complaint, one card was used at Tobacco and Vapes. The reported purchase totaled $139.40.

Smith later received a notice about a declined Walmart transaction. The attempted purchase totaled $61.82.

Walmart Video Reviewed

Walmart asset protection provided checkout images and surveillance video. The footage reportedly showed a man and woman together.

The complaint says the card was declined during checkout. The pair then allegedly left with merchandise without paying.

Surveillance video also showed the pair entering a white van, according to the court filing.

Police reviewed the vehicle information and circulated a checkout image. An anonymous tip identified Johnson as the woman.

Investigators compared the image with a prior booking photo. They reported that the images appeared to match.

Charges Filed in Beltrami County

Johnson faces financial transaction card fraud under Minnesota Statute 609.821.

The gross misdemeanor carries up to one year in jail. It also carries a possible $3,000 fine.

She also faces misdemeanor theft under Minnesota Statute 609.52.

That charge carries up to 90 days in jail. It also carries a possible $1,000 fine.

The complaint covers alleged conduct from May 29 through May 31. The theft allegation is dated May 30.
