Mahnomen Woman Charged After $7.81 Theft
Mahnomen (trfnews.i234.me) — An Ogema woman faces two misdemeanor charges after an alleged theft at a Mahnomen store.
Erica Nicole Brown, 39, has been charged with theft and obstruction of legal process.
The charges were filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court in Mahnomen County.
The case stems from an incident reported on June 1, 2026.
Security Reports Store Theft
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Starmart around 5:24 p.m.
Store security had detained Brown outside the business before an officer arrived.
A security guard reported that Brown took a small alcohol bottle and a pizza.
The complaint states Brown left the store without paying and began eating the pizza.
A receipt valued the two items at $7.81.
Brown first denied taking anything, according to the complaint.
She later admitted taking store property but did not identify the items.

Complaint Describes Struggle
The officer returned to a patrol vehicle to prepare a citation.
During that time, Brown allegedly began walking away while carrying the pizza.
The officer repeatedly told Brown she was not free to leave.
Brown continued walking until the officer caught up with her, the complaint states.
She then allegedly shouted, pulled away, and pushed the officer during the arrest.
Another law enforcement officer arrived to help place Brown inside the patrol vehicle.
The complaint states that Brown sat down but refused to move her feet inside.
Officers eventually secured Brown inside the vehicle and closed the door.
Brown was taken to Mahnomen Health Center for medical clearance.
She was later transported to the Northwest Regional Correctional Center.
During transport, Brown allegedly struck the vehicle’s divider with her hands.
She also allegedly tried to damage a rear-facing camera inside the vehicle.
Two Misdemeanor Charges Filed
Brown faces one count of misdemeanor theft under Minnesota Statute 609.52.
She also faces obstruction under Minnesota Statute 609.50.
Each charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a possible $1,000 fine.
The case is listed as Mahnomen County Court File 44-CR-26-314.
Charges are allegations. Brown is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
