Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — Authorities have identified the man who died in a workplace accident at a north Moorhead business.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said Stacy Martin, 51, of Fargo, died after an incident Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at Bert’s Truck Equipment, 3804 Highway 75 N., in Moorhead.
What investigators say happened
According to a news release, Martin was working with a lift axle on a truck.
The sheriff’s office said a temporary weld failed during the work.
The axle fell onto Martin’s chest and abdominal area, the release said.
Other employees lifted the axle off him, according to the release.

911 call and response
Deputies and Sanford Ambulance responded at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, the release said.
The call reported a workplace accident and a traumatic chest injury.
First responders found Martin alert and conscious, the sheriff’s office said.
Sanford Ambulance transported Martin to Sanford Hospital, the release said.
During the trip, Martin lost consciousness, according to the release.
First responders began life-saving measures while en route, the release said.
Death and autopsy
Emergency room staff continued life-saving efforts at the hospital, the release said.
Those efforts were not successful, according to the sheriff’s office.
Martin was pronounced dead, the release said.
The sheriff’s office said his body was taken for an autopsy.
The autopsy will be done by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office in St. Paul.
The investigation remains ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
