Fosston Man Charged in Alleged Death Threat

Fosston (trfnews.i234.me) — A Polk County man faces a felony charge after an alleged threat in Fosston.

Levi Joseph Miles, 24, of Erskine, is charged with threats of violence.

The charge was filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court in Polk County.

Court records list the case as 60-CR-26-752.

Alleged Threat Reported

The complaint says the incident happened on May 18, 2026.

Police received a report about an assault at a Fosston residence.

Miles was identified as the person who contacted dispatch, according to the complaint.

An alleged victim then gave police information about another person connected to the incident.

Police later spoke with that person at a different Fosston residence.

That person told police Miles had visited the first residence.

The person alleged Miles threatened to kill them while holding a large metal object.

Another witness reportedly confirmed hearing the threat, the complaint states.

The complaint does not say anyone was physically injured during the reported threat.

Felony Charge Carries Prison Risk

Prosecutors charged Miles under Minnesota’s threats-of-violence law.

The law covers threats made to terrorize another person or cause serious public disruption.

A conviction can bring up to five years in prison.

It can also bring a fine of up to $10,000.

The court document describes the charge as a felony.

Readers can review the law through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

Case Remains Pending

The complaint also lists several earlier Minnesota convictions for Miles.

Those include receiving stolen property and violating an order for protection in 2023.

It also lists a 2025 disorderly conduct conviction.

A fourth-degree burglary conviction is listed from January 2026.

Those past cases do not decide the outcome of the new charge.

The current allegation must be proven in court.

A criminal complaint presents the prosecution’s claims and probable cause.

It is not proof of guilt.

Miles is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
