Fargo Man Charged in Armed Apartment Robbery

FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man faces a felony charge after an alleged armed apartment robbery.

Rodney Edward Anderson, 59, was arrested June 24 and charged with felony robbery.

The charge follows a June 23 incident at the Arbors apartment complex.

Police Respond to Burglary Report

Fargo police responded around 3:24 p.m. after receiving a burglary-in-progress report.

Investigators later learned the resident had reported a robbery earlier that morning.

The resident had allowed four friends to stay there while he attended an appointment.

At about 10:54 a.m., a masked man dressed in black allegedly entered the apartment.

The resident said the man pointed a black pistol and demanded his sister’s bicycle.

The suspect then left with the resident’s television, according to court records.

Surveillance Video Cited

Surveillance video reportedly captured a Ford F-150 arriving near the apartment complex.

The vehicle dropped off three people, according to the charging documents.

The video then showed the group walking toward the apartment building.

One person appeared to force entry while a male voice could be heard yelling.

Investigators identified Anderson through the surveillance footage, court records state.

They also saw him at a search location later that day.

He wore clothing similar to the clothing shown during the robbery.

Officers also compared his shoes with footage from an earlier police contact.

Arrest Made the Following Day

Police found Anderson at the New Life Center on June 24.

He was arrested at about 6:18 p.m., according to the charging summary.

Anderson was again wearing clothing similar to the surveillance footage.

When told about the robbery charge, Anderson denied taking anything from the resident.

The statement was included in court documents.

Stolen Property Remains Missing

The television had not been recovered when the charging summary was filed.

Court records also list an electric scooter among the property taken.

The scooter had not been recovered either.

Authorities have not announced arrests involving the other people shown in the footage.

Investigators have not said whether the reported firearm has been recovered.

The charge is an allegation and does not prove guilt.

Anderson is presumed innocent unless convicted in court.

Updates may be available from the Fargo Police Department.

Court access information is available through the North Dakota Court System.
