Two people were killed in a crash involving a semi and a car in Mountrail County.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened Monday, December 15, 2025.
The time was about 7:55 a.m. Central.
The location was Highway 1804 at mile marker 274.
It was about five miles east of the Williams County line.

What Happened

Troopers say a 2007 Western Star semi was traveling westbound on Highway 1804.
The semi was driven by Shawn Sexton, 48, of Watford City.
Authorities say a 2015 Chrysler 200 crossed into the westbound lane.
Troopers say the Chrysler started to slide on icy roads.
The semi then struck the driver’s side of the Chrysler.
The Highway Patrol describes the crash as a T-bone collision.

Victims Identified

The driver of the Chrysler was identified as Gabriel Santiago, 21, of Bismarck.
He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
A passenger was identified as Lazaro Bautista, 44, of Burnsville, Minnesota.
He also suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The Highway Patrol says seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
Sexton was not injured, according to authorities.

Scene Response

Agencies assisting at the scene included the North Dakota Highway Patrol,
the Mountrail County Sheriff’s Office, the Tioga Fire Department, and Tioga Ambulance.
Officials reported icy road conditions at the time.
Weather conditions were described as dry.

Investigation Ongoing

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Officials have not released any further details on possible contributing factors.
Drivers are urged to slow down when roads are icy.
