Mentor Manager Charged After Man Suffers Broken Jaw
MENTOR, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Crookston man faces a felony assault charge after an alleged attack in Mentor.
Guadalupe Francisco Peralta, 36, was charged with third-degree assault involving substantial bodily harm.
The charge was filed in Polk County District Court under case number 60-CR-26-832.
Prosecutors allege the incident happened on June 15, 2026, near an apartment complex on Third Street North.
Private Meeting Followed Dinner
According to the complaint, the victim and his wife went to Dairy Queen for dinner.
Both reportedly worked at the restaurant.
Peralta, identified as the victim’s manager, asked to speak with him privately.
The two then went to a trailer parked across from the restaurant, the complaint states.
The victim later returned to his apartment with visible facial injuries.
He reportedly could not remember what happened inside the trailer.
Emergency crews found swelling and bruising near his left eye and a large cut on his lip.
He was taken by ambulance to RiverView’s emergency department in Crookston.
Hospital staff later confirmed that he suffered a fractured jaw.

Complaint Details Investigation
Investigators spoke with the victim’s wife after the reported assault.
She said the private meeting lasted about 10 minutes.
She noticed his injuries when he returned from the trailer.
She also told investigators that the discussion involved workplace and personal issues.
Peralta first denied that the meeting became physical, according to the complaint.
He later admitted striking the victim, the complaint alleges.
The document states that the two men shook hands afterward.
Peralta was then arrested on suspicion of assault.
Felony Charge Filed
Third-degree assault is a felony under Minnesota law.
A conviction can bring up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
Public case information may be available through Minnesota Court Records Online.
The complaint lists earlier convictions involving drugs, impaired driving, disorderly conduct, burglary, and assault.
Those past cases do not prove the new allegation.
Peralta has not been convicted in this case.
The charge remains an allegation unless proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
