Crookston Six-Gun Theft: Woman Charged

Crookston (trfnews.i234.me) — A Shoreview woman is facing two felony charges in Polk County District Court after six firearms were allegedly stolen from a Crookston home.

Kearra Grace Johnson, 20, is charged in Court File No. 60-CR-26-718. The charges include unlawful possession of a firearm or ammunition after a crime of violence. She also faces felony theft of a firearm.

The complaint says the alleged theft happened on or about May 17, 2026. The case was filed in Minnesota’s 9th Judicial District.

Firearms Reported Missing From Safe

According to the complaint, the victim reported six firearms missing from a locked gun safe. The guns included rifles and shotguns.

The victim told police he met Johnson and Jarquise Davanta Brown-Williams at Crooks Club. He said they later came to his home after the bar closed.

The complaint says the victim was in the garage with Brown-Williams. Johnson was allegedly alone inside the home for part of that time.

The victim later checked the home and found the guns missing, according to court documents.

Guns Found Hidden In Bus

Investigators later searched a home on Jackson Avenue in Crookston. Court documents say they found shotgun shells, a trigger lock, gun oil, and a DNA test result with Johnson’s name.

Brown-Williams later told investigators the guns had been hidden at a junkyard in Crookston. He led investigators to a bus at 800 South Minnesota Street.

Inside the bus, investigators found six firearms. The victim later confirmed they were the guns taken from his home, the complaint says.

Frank Alexander Moody is also named in the complaint. Brown-Williams told investigators that Moody suggested hiding the guns at the junkyard.

Complaint Says Johnson Admitted Theft

The complaint says Johnson later admitted she stole the six guns. She allegedly said it was her idea to steal and sell them.

Johnson allegedly told investigators she carried four guns out first. She then carried two more guns out during a second trip.

Court documents say Johnson had a prior felony conviction from September 2025. The complaint says she was on supervised probation.

That probation order barred her from possessing firearms or ammunition, according to the complaint.

The firearm possession charge cites Minnesota Statute 624.713. The theft charge cites Minnesota Statute 609.52.

The complaint says prosecutors may seek an aggravated sentence if Johnson is convicted. The filing says the case involved more than one firearm.

Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
