Greenbush Woman Found Alive After Forest Search
Roseau County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Greenbush woman was found alive Monday after a large search in the Beltrami Island State Forest.
Cheryl Lynn Johnson, 62, had been reported missing about eight hours earlier. Authorities said she was later found near Winner Road, east of the Winner Silo.
Johnson was taken by Warroad Rescue Ambulance Service to LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau for treatment.
Search Began Early Monday
The report came in at about 3 a.m. Monday. Johnson was believed to be missing in the Beltrami Island State Forest.
The search area was near the Winner Silo. That area is remote and heavily wooded.
The Roseau County Sheriff’s Office started a ground search. Local volunteers also joined the effort.
Crews searched through the morning. Conditions were difficult because of the forested area.

Several Agencies Helped in the Search
The search included the Roseau County Mounted Posse and Warroad Fire Department. The U.S. Border Patrol also assisted.
Minnesota forestry staff helped search the area. Conservation officers with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources were also involved.
Air crews were later used in the search. Drone operators with the Roseau County Drone Program were helped from above.
The Minnesota State Patrol also assisted with the air search.
A helicopter from DNR Forestry and the Brainerd Helicopter Service joined the effort.
Johnson Found By Helicopter
At about 11:15 a.m., Johnson was spotted by a helicopter. She was found on the south side of Winner Road.
Authorities said she was located a short distance east of the Winner Silo.
Johnson was then moved from the forest area. She was transported for medical care in Roseau.
No further details were released about her condition.
The search brought together local, state, and federal crews. Volunteers also played a key role in the effort.
Authorities have not said how Johnson became separated in the forest.
