Bemidji Woman Charged In Domestic Assault Case
Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji woman is facing two assault charges after an alleged domestic incident earlier this month.
Promise Rose Weiss, 38, has been charged in Beltrami County District Court. Court records list the case number as 04-CR-26-1069.
Weiss is charged with felony domestic assault under Minnesota Statute 609.2242. She is also charged with gross misdemeanor fifth-degree assault under Minnesota Statute 609.224.
The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. It also carries a possible $10,000 fine, or both.
Alleged Incident Reported In Bemidji
According to the court complaint, Bemidji police responded around 11:29 p.m. on May 7, 2026. The call involved a reported assault at a Bemidji residence.
Officers reported finding a woman outside the home who appeared to be crying. The woman told police that Weiss punched her in the stomach.
The woman also told officers she was pregnant. She said she was scared of Weiss, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that the woman and X.J. were in a bathroom before the incident. The woman said Weiss forced the door open and began swinging her arms.
She told police that Weiss hit her in the stomach. She also said Weiss had been drinking and becomes aggressive when drinking.
Second Alleged Victim Reported Slap
X.J. told officers that Weiss slapped him on the right side of his face. He identified Weiss as his mother, according to the complaint.
X.J. told police that he felt a burning feeling on his face after the slap. Officers reported seeing redness on his cheek.
Weiss denied assaulting anyone, according to the complaint. She told officers that the two alleged victims had been fighting upstairs.
Police later arrested Weiss on suspicion of domestic assault. The complaint states she gave a preliminary breath test at the Beltrami County Jail. The reported result was .229.
Prior Convictions Listed In Complaint
The complaint states Weiss has two prior domestic assault convictions in Beltrami County. Those convictions are listed as dated November 30, 2022, and December 5, 2023.
The complaint also states Weiss is on supervised probation. The listed cases include a felony first-degree DWI conviction from February 3, 2026.
Another listed case includes gross misdemeanor DWI and child endangerment convictions from September 12, 2025.
The charges are allegations at this stage. Weiss is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
