Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bemidji man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after a welfare check led to a domestic assault investigation.

Christian Dain Rebarchek, 21, has been charged in Beltrami County District Court. The charges include felony false imprisonment and two misdemeanor domestic assault counts.

The case was filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District. Court records list the case number as 04-CR-26-1046.

Welfare Check Leads To Charges

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called on May 5, 2026, for a welfare check. The call involved a woman at a Bemidji residence with Rebarchek.

The complaint says the woman’s mother contacted authorities. She reported that her daughter had called while crying and sounding scared.

When officers arrived, they heard a woman crying inside the home. They also heard a man pleading, according to the complaint.

Officers entered through an unlocked side door after receiving no response at the doors.

The woman was found crying and shaking. Officers reported seeing bruises on both of her arms.

Complaint Details Allegations

The woman told officers she had tried to leave the residence. She alleged Rebarchek stopped her from leaving.

She also alleged that he grabbed her arms and face. The complaint says he restricted her access to her phone.

Investigators said he allegedly sent misleading messages to her mother. The messages were allegedly sent while pretending to be the woman.

The woman told officers she feared Rebarchek. She said she wanted to get away from him.

During a danger assessment, the woman reported past abuse allegations. She claimed Rebarchek had previously choked her and held her down.

She also said he had shattered her phone. She told officers he appeared uninvited at her mother’s home.

The complaint says officers saw multiple bruises in different stages of healing.

Firearms Recovered From Residence

Rebarchek was arrested at the scene, according to court records. The complaint says he briefly tried to walk away.

He was later transported to jail. Authorities booked him on domestic assault and confinement-related allegations.

With the woman’s consent, officers recovered three firearms from shared areas of the residence.

The felony false imprisonment charge is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.255. The domestic assault charges are filed under Minnesota Statute 609.2242.

A criminal complaint is not a conviction. Rebarchek is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
