Loretta Mae Prenevost of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away at the age of 93 on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Hillcrest Senior Living, Red Lake Falls, MN, where she had resided for approximately 5 months.
A private family service will be held for Loretta. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, near Red Lake Falls, MN.
Loretta was born in Karlstad, MN on July 5, 1931 to Alfred and Beda (Netterlund )Swanson. Loretta graduated from Karlstad High School and following graduation she moved to St. Paul, MN where she worked as a dental assistant.
On one of Loretta’s trips to Red Lake Falls to visit her sister, Martha, Loretta met Neil (Pete) Prenevost and they were married on October 25, 1952. Loretta and Neil lived in Red Lake Falls their entire adult lives where they raised their family: Pamela, Lex, Mark, and Jill.
Loretta and Neil worked together in their accounting practice, Prenevost Accounting for many years until their retirement.
Loretta enjoyed her flower gardens and yard, reading, knitting, needlepoint and being involved with her beloved grandsons and their families lives along with her nieces and nephews’ activities. She was always happy when she could hear of the adventures and milestones in their lives. Neil and Loretta were very active in the Red Lake Falls Blue Line Club and were one of the first couples inducted into their Hall of Fame. They were also HUGE UND Fighting Sioux hockey fans and of the MN Twins.
Loretta was gracious, very generous with her time and always giving of herself to others.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; son Mark; and daughter Jill. Along with all six of her sisters Alma, Lilly, Myrtle, Gladys, Martha, and Pearl; and one brother Stanley.
Loretta is survived by her daughter Pamela and her husband Paul Magnuson; son Lex and his wife Katherine along with their two sons. Grandson Sam and his wife Mollie; Grandson Nik and his wife Melissa and their son Max.
Memorials are preferred to Hillcrest Senior Living for their dementia program, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, both of Red Lake Falls, or a charity of your choice. Or in Loretta’s memory please perform an act of kindness for a friend, family member or even a stranger. Pass it on!
The family would like to extend a thank you to the many friends and family that visited Mom, sent cards, or called her over the years. Our BIGGEST THANK YOU goes to the staff and residents of Hillcrest Senior Living for the wonderful, loving care and friendship they extended to Mom during her final days, and also to us. We will miss you all.
